Pupil Progress

Pupil Progress

The Fusion Academy has high aspirations for all of its students and offers a curriculum that works to students achieving accredited outcomes in line with Key Stage 4 expectations in Year 11 or Year 12. This means that all students in the secondary phase are working towards accreditation at:

  • Entry Level
  • Functional Skills Level
  • GCSE / BTEC / Vocational Learning

Formative feedback is provided in an ongoing way to students during learning sequences. This can be given verbally or in written form. At the end of a learning sequence summative feedback is updated on Earwig, this is the tool that we use to share information about learning with parents.

In line with our aspirations where Key Stage 2 students are ready they will be supported to access statutory assessments. However, we recognise that due to the social and emotional needs of the students this is decided on an individual basis in consultation with students and their families.

All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan and progress towards the identified priority targets in the plan are assessed at the annual review of the plan. PSD (Personal Social Development) is a key area of work within the school and young people’s progress within this area is tracked using school based systems.

2025-2026

PSD, as a priority, remains strong across the curriculum as a learning tool that supports development linked to the communication and interactions needs of the young people.

Exam success

We are extremely proud of the cohort of students who took accreditations in English, Maths and Science, including Functional Skills and GCSEs. They demonstrated strong determination and resilience in achieving amazing outcomes.

Huge congratulations to all our students who earned vocational qualifications this year—including Arts Awards and BTECs. We are immensely proud of your hard work and creativity!

Communication and Interaction

Communication and interaction underpins all our work with teaching and learning teams working in a fully integrated way with the speech and language and occupational therapy teams.

Key principles for supporting children and young people, are embedded across the school and include:

  • Structure – predictable classroom environments
  • Sensory Supportive classrooms – access to identified resources that support engagement in learning and regulation
  •  Total communication – use of visuals and concrete resources to aid learning
  •  Relational approach – key adults and peers to support young people with understanding of belonging in our community

The school will also put in place any additional provisional requirements from the agreed EHC plan.

We are delighted to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our children and young people. Every young person has shown commendable dedication, resulting in strong progress across Maths, Science, and English. We are equally proud to see their creative talents shining through with exceptional practical progress in Art and Design.

All young people  made progress across the curriculum with strong progress in Personal Social Development (PSD) which is a key focus within this stage of learning. They have been learning how to develop relationships with others. Where progress was developing young people have been supported with additional interventions to meet their individual needs.
